The Inn at Perry Cabin Linden Spa
The Inn at Perry Cabin has long been known as one of the top hotels on Maryland's
Eastern Shore. This meticulously restored manor house is now operated by Train &
Partners' client the Orient-Express Hotel group.
The Spa at The Inn at Perry Cabin provides spa treatments, aerobic exercise, and
pool and catering support for the Inn at Perry Cabin. Architecturally it relates
to the indigenous architecture of the Chesapeake Bay and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
The Spa draws upon and references the context of the historic image of the Inn and
the maritime lifestyle and imagery of St. Michaels. It unites three distinct architectural
volumes to generate the components of the program and create visual interest. The tower
element announces the presence of the Inn as well as the Spa. It is sited adjacent to the
entry drive and is the first building encountered on arrival. The tower marks the Spa
entry and reinforces it as a destination. The two small adjacent structures join to form
the Spa proper. They are top-lit by large monitors over the internal circulation, while
each treatment room has large windows overlooking private gardens. The long story and a
half structure gives ground to the tower and the Spa structures while addressing the
Inn's Pool and its gardens. It contains the restrooms, lockers, and dressing facilities
as well as the aerobic exercise rooms. The large exercise room is in the garret on the
second floor while the smaller overlooks the terrace and pool at ground level.
