Nelson County Memorial Library

Located just south of Charlottesville, Virginia, the Nelson County Memorial Library is dedicated to the flood victims of the 1969 hurricane Camille. After nearly a quarter century of continuous use, residents of Nelson County found the need to revitalize their library and contracted Train & Partners Architects to design a modernized facility.

With the consideration of population growth, sustainable building technologies, and ever evolving civic uses, Train & Partners Architects proposed a two phase addition and expansion to the library. The first phase, consisting of a 6000 square foot addition, is to include a new main entry, new stack areas, and new reading rooms. The second phase will replace the original library with a new Children's area, office and technology support areas, ADA restrooms, and an additional array of public meeting spaces.
