Deep Rock Farm
Deep Rock Farm dates back from the late 19th century. Its small ridge site has an intimate quality but also offers the intense
drama of farther distant views.
Out of respect for the historic property, Train & Partners Architects created a sympathetic addition to double the square
footage of the original farmhouse while maintaining the delicate nature of the site. Our stone addition contrasts with the original
clapboard house but does not dominate it. We have consistently maintained the historic scale; matching the tripartite composition
of the 19th century house. While large in interior space, it matches the eaves and ridges of the existing house roof.
We were inspired by the diverse assembly of farm structures typically found on rural properties in this agricultural area. This
complicated relationship – a marriage of historic precedent, modern need and natural landscape – defines the problem-solving
tradition of Train & Partners.
