Train & Partner's design for the University of Virginia School of Law included new student and faculty dining rooms, a semiformal reading room, and the Law School's only large commons.

The design responds to four outdoor spaces of distinct character - formal central courtyard, contemplative garden, dining terrace, and woodland.

The project advances the University's long-term goal of establishing an aesthetic unity between the newer northern campus and the original nineteenth-century Central Grounds. The scale, mass, proportion, and major materials of the building are consistent with the other recent building at the School of Law, yet functionally will stand apart as the active hub of everyday student and faculty interaction.
